"When you walk along the street, you're in a movie."
-Stephen Fry, Making History
Today the cinema is everywhere. It exists between the black box of the movie theater, the white cube of the art gallery, and the grey domain of the Internet. It is a psychological and technological interface that increasingly blurs the distance between reality and fiction in a world shaped by Hollywood, social media and video games.
Join us as we consider the current state of art, cinema and technology in this inaugural program of screenings, community exhibitions, panels and an online channel with a curated selection of artist films, interactive projects, educational materials and exclusive content.
Black Box 1.0 presents contemporary artists who work across a diverse range of media to expand the language of cinema within and beyond the movie theater - from video and sculpture to installation and code.
