OPPORTUNITY: SEATTLE SITE-SPECIFIC COMMISSION

Deadline: February 17, 2015, 5PM
Eligibility: Open to professional artists living in the USA
Budget: $350,000

Applications are currently open for a major site-specific artwork to be commissioned by Touchstone and USAA for the Troy Block development in Seattle’s technology-centered neighborhood along South Lake Union. Given the scope of the project below, this could be a fantastic opportunity for a new media artist.

The developer and project team envision a signature artwork that interacts with the buildings, context and natural systems of the site, references the history of the place and neighborhood, or creates a memorable focal point and contemporary landmark within the pedestrian spaces of the development. South Lake Union has been developing rapidly. Envisioned by the city as a diverse and sustainable urban center, the neighborhood is transitioning from industrial commercial uses to high-tech and social science campuses with vibrant mixed-use housing and retail investments, and a diverse collection of public art.

This opportunity is open to professional artists living in the US. The budget for the artwork commission is $350,000. Touchstone has hired 4Culture to manage the public artwork development and integration from artist selection through dedication and building opening events.
